A Bazaar Costume ShopIT'S SO GOOD, IT'S SCARY*Charlotte NC's best kept secret*Carol Befort..page2 The uniqueness of this costume shop is it's proprietor, Robyn Queery. Robyn, with 20 years experience in the costume business, spends her days among her costumes and accessories, knowing just what dresses and costumes she has available. She knows the origins of many of the clothes and uniforms, and has transformed many with her trusty sewing machine into works designers might drool over. It is a fun and an exciting adventure finding just the right dress, then Robyn selects the perfect hat, gloves, shoes and antique jewelry. The men's costumes are just as vintagely correct, right down to the spats and unique cigarette holder. Among the racks of costumes are Military uniforms, apes, bears, monkeys, and vintage clothing from many eras all awaiting their next customer or should we refer to them as victims of the Maze's magic spell. The Magic Maze also provides costumes for many of the local theaters, school plays, several photographers and advertising agencies within the Charlotte area. One recent spring, Robyn assembled costumes for three local High Schools for the same play, Oklahoma, and didn't run out of costumes. This fall, the shop put together 170 vintage costumes of the 70's for another high school play. The Maze is also busy through Halloween, the December holidays, and various year around parties. Most of the customers are all referrals via word of mouth advertising. Scary nights of Halloween fun were all once apart of The Magic Maze. A complete haunted house occupied the house's basement. The basement is old, dark, dank, and complete with the normal spiders. Robyn talks about the albino crickets she's seen in the basement. Many neighbors tell tales of ghosts seen in the upper windows of the house during the Halloween season. They say there are two sisters who haunt the house. Robyn tells of seeing a ghost of a woman in gray in the upper hallways. The ghost is quite friendly and they only hear unaccounted footsteps and closing doors. Is this a unique costume shop? If you want the perfect accessorize vintage costume, an afternoon of adventure, costumes for your play, or just a fun outfit for your next party, do visit The Magic Maze for the experience of a lifetime and satisfaction guaranteed...END* [back] |
